If recent rumours are to be believed, a new animated series based on the Diablo franchise is in the works at Netflix.
Word comes from a now-deleted tweet from Andrew "Andy" Cosby, founder of Boom! Studios.
Cosby stated that he was in "final talks" to run the show on behalf of Activision Blizzard and Netflix. “It’s very exciting and I hope to the High Heavens it all works out," he reportedly said – according to Variety.
An appearance on Netflix won't be the next time fans see mention of Diablo either, with the Diablo III Eternal Collection coming to Nintendo Switch on November 2.
Whether an animated Diablo series would be similar in tone to Netflix's hyper-violent and much-praised Castlevania series remains to be seen, but given Cosby is penning the upcoming Hellboy film, it feels like the show could be in good hands.
In addition to Castlevania Netflix is also adapting a live-action series for The Witcher, with Henry Cavill recently being cast in the titular role as Geralt of Rivia. While the series will be adapted from Andrzej Sapkowski's novels and not the hit series of games from CD Projekt Red, one can still see Netflix becoming home to a number of popular gaming franchises in the future.
