Update:

It's official. Blizzard has dropped an announcement trailer for Diablo III: Eternal Collection. Check it out below!

Original story:

What began as a simple tweet featuring a Diablo-themed light switch has now (to the surprise of no one) resulted in a leak indicating that Diablo III is coming to the Nintendo Switch later this year.

The leak comes thanks to a now-deleted page from Forbes, though the folks at Resetera have been kind enough to summarise the details.

According to Forbes, Diablo III will release on the Switch as the ‘Eternal Collection’ and will include the Reaper of Souls and Rise of the Necromancer expansions, along with all of the other content added since the game's initial release.

As an added bonus for Nintendo fans, the Diablo III on Switch will also include an exclusive Legend of Ganondorf armor set.

The Diablo III: Eternal Collection will offer a variety of options for players to team up for some multi-player demon murder. Up to four players can slay on one system or up to four systems in close proximity can be linked wirelessly without internet. Players will also be able to squad up online via the upcoming Nintendo Switch Online service.

Blizzard recently stated it had “multiple Diablo projects in the works" and that "some of them are going to take longer than others but we may have some things to show you later this year”. It looks like we now know what to expect.

The Nintendo Switch has been begging for a great isometric RPG like this since launch. While I can't imagine that four players on one screen in portable mode will be anything short of a nightmare, I can't wait to play Diablo III on the go.
