Kalypso Media Group has acquired the rights to the beloved real-time strategy series, Commandos.
The publisher already has experience with successful strategy titles, with Tropico 6 releasing next month.
Founder and global managing director Simon Hellwig noted the company's responsibility to "revive and further develop these beloved games for the fans around the world."
He continued to note "this will include the development of a completely new games for all platforms, but also an extensive adaptation of the existing titles for contemporary technologies and platforms."
In addition to Commandos, Kalypso's acquisition included both Praetorians and Imperial Glory franchises. Not one of the three series has seen a title shipped by developer Pyro Studios since 2006.
"We have been looking for a suitable partner for the continuation of our products and brands for a long time," added Pyro Studios founder Ignacio Pérez.
"Kalypso has great expertise and experience with rebooting well-known titles, and we are delighted to have our IP in such good hands.”
