Epic's relentless Fortnite push continues as the studio today reveals plans for a Summer Skirmish series with a massive prize pool of $8 million spread across eight weeks of competition.

First up this weekend is a Duos Battle worth $250,000. This first round is closed to gamers who are either "community creators" or highly skilled players. With the invites for competitors already out, don't expect to be able to compete just yet. Other players will have to wait for the open events on the horizon.

With Epic set to commence Season 5 of Fortnite Battle Royale at 8 PM tonight. The timing of this tournament is sure to add even more interest to the insanely popular game.

Fortnite has been in the news everywhere this last week with the clever marketing drive to place Llamas in real world locations across the globe. Excitement for the all but confirmed time travel themed event, that will effect the map in unknown ways is at an all time high.

Epic is doing a great job of maintaining the strong momentum Fortnite has achieved over the last six months. It'll be interesting to see how the game continues to evolve over the next few months.

Having ticked off every challenge last season, I can't wait to jump on tonight with my duos buddy to hopefully get a few more cheeky no-build wins.
