Australia's Blank Esports is off to a great start in the lucrative Overwatch Pacific Championships in Taiwan.

In the first of the regular season's 11 weeks of play, Blank registered dominant 3-0 wins over Japan's Detonator Gold and Taiwan's Machi Esports.

That puts the competition's sole Aussie team at first equal, alongside Hong Kong Attitude and Taiwan's Flash Wolves – the latter of which Blank will face next week.

It also has matches scheduled against the Wolves' fellow countrymen FireBall and ahq eSports Club.

There are no Kiwi teams in the competition.

Australia's Blank Esports dominates the first week of Overwatch Pacific Champs

"It's been a rough couple of weeks of travel & setup, but now we start training full-time," the team tweeted.

The prize pool for the Overwatch Pacific Championships is NZ$386k, with first place claiming about a third of that amount.

The league is a good litmus test for the Australians and the greater Asian region ahead of world class tournaments later in the year. All OPC matches are streamed live here from Friday through Sunday.
