Leading display manufacturer AOC has unveiled its premium line of gaming monitors with the AGON Gaming range.
The AG271QX is a quad high definition gaming monitor, offering a native resolution of 2560x1440 pixels at a16x9 aspect ratio.
It is powered by a TN (Twisted Nematic) panel in combination with LED back-lighting.
TN panels generally provides shorter response times than other panels, making them good for gaming. TN panels also offer high brightness and draw less power than competing technologies, and are cheap to manufacture, resulting in low prices for consumers. However, colour shifts can occur at wider viewing angles.
The AG271QX features a 1ms response time and 144Hz refresh rate, and is compatible with Free Sync.
According to AOC, the AGON range has also been designed with gaming marathons in mind, using flicker-free technology for eye protection and Low Blue-Light mode to reduce eye strain.
The company also claims that changing settings between games has been made easier with the AOC QuickSwitch Controller, enabling the user to switch effortlessly between modes and adjust brightness, contrast and other essential gaming features.
AOC intends to release 10 new monitors in the AGON range throughout 2016 with both IPS (in-plane switching) and TN panels. The series will include both standard and curved models that range from 24" to a notable 35" ultra-wide display. Resolutions will span full high definition (1920x1080 pixels) all the way to 4K.
A release date for Australia and New Zealand has yet to be confirmed.
The company revealed the new brand at a launch event in Beijing, at which e-sports teams Na'Vi and EHOME played in a showcase Dota 2 match. Each player was set up with the AGON flagship model 27" AG271QX monitor, which will be the first to market.
