This year's instalment of the Call of Duty shooter franchise will be entitled Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, according to the PlayStation Store.

An incomplete listing for the title appeared on the US version of the online store, and was captured, of course, by Reddit.

No further information was given on the game – clicking on the title literally resulted in a blank page – which suggests the publication of the listing was premature.

The new game is heavily rumoured to take place in the "very far future" and involve "space combat."

It is under development at Infinity Ward, and is the first Call of Duty title from that studio to be produced on Activision's new three-year development cycle.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, if that is its title, will release in the holiday season 2016.
