Kojima Productions is officially back, and its first game will be a PS4 console exclusive.

Yesterday's report was confirmed by Kojima Productions and Sony Computer Entertainment today.

SCE president Andrew House said Sony was "delighted" to work with Kojima, while the director himself said he "cannot wait to deliver, with PlayStation, a game that will become a compelling franchise."

In an interview with IGN, Kojima added that the studio could expand outside of games, saying "once [Kojima Productions has] an established IP in games, something solid that satisfies people, then we can consider movies and videos."

"We’ll be able to do things that are more edgy, preserving the quality we’ve had so far, while at the same time finding new challenges and exploring new areas."

Kojima is joined at the new Kojima Productions by Metal Gear Solid artist Yoji Shinkawa and producer Ken Imaizumi.

The first game out of the studio will be a PS4 console exclusive before also becoming available on PC.
