Turok: The Dinosaur Hunter will launch anew on PCs this week, thanks to a remaster by Night Dive Studios.

The remaster vastly improves the draw distance and lighting effects, adds support for modern OS features like high resolutions, widescreen, and rebinding, and allegedly improves gameplay and level design.

Originally released for PC and N64 in 1997, Turok: The Dinosaur Hunter is a first person shooter that pits Native American warrior Turok against an army of dinosaurs and aliens led by an evil overlord.

It sold over 1.5 million copies on its original release and spawned five sequels.

Developer Night Dive Studios specialises in re-releasing older games, with a back catalogue including System Shock 2, Sid Meier's Pirates!, and I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream.

The studio will also remaster Turok 2: Seeds of Evil at a later time.

Turok Remastered launches December 17th on Steam, GOG, and the Humble Store.
