Bethesda Game Studios has opened a new development studio in Montreal.

Under the guidance of studio director Yves Lachance, Bethesda Game Studios Montreal is intended to "expand [Bethesda's] development capabilities in console, PC, and mobile gaming."

The studio will comprise more than forty developers.

Said Fallout 4 director Todd Howard: "We've worked with some very talented developers in Montreal for a long time, and decided it was time to open a studio there."

"It's exciting to think about the new games we'll be building together."

Lachance joins the studio from Behaviour Interactive, a studio-for-hire that has previously worked on projects including Wolfenstein: The New Order and Fallout Shelter, both published by Bethesda Softworks.

"We are thrilled to be launching the studio in Montreal and contributing our city's great game-making talent to the kind of games that Bethesda Game Studios is known for," said Lachance.

Indeed, the studio's opening makes Montreal even more of a game development powerhouse, with the city already housing studios run by Ubisoft, EA, and Eidos Interactive.
