Valve's Steam Controller has received a new feature, in beta, aimed at making its touchpad perform more like a mouse.

Dubbed "Mouse Region," the feature enables players to map the touchpad (or parts thereof) to a particular on-screen area, meaning the cursor will immediately jump to that area when the appropriate touchpad spot is touched.

The feature is intended to grant players quicker access to features like ability bars or RTS maps.

The Steam Controller's star feature, its twin touchpads, is intended to enable more mouse-like control with a standard controller, but is still experiencing teething issues.

In order to acquire the update, players must opt in to the Steam beta client.
