Night Dive Studios' remake of the 1994 classic System Shock is underway, and the first screenshots and art have landed.
The screenshots show some of the remake's interior environments, shinily rendered in the Unity engine, while the concept art gives an idea of how the game's enemies and NPCs will look.
Aside from polygon count and lighting effects, however, the maps appear to hew very close to the layout and appearance of the original game.
That's echoed by Night Dive Studios, whose CEO Stephen Kick says "will be very true to the spirit of the originals."
Polygon has the full set of remake screenshots, including comparisons between the original game and the new version.
The original System Shock, which eventually inspired BioShock, is available in an Enhanced Edition via GOG, with higher-resolution visuals, mouselook, and other additions.
System Shock, the remake, has no release date as of yet.
