3D Realms and Interceptor's top-down ARPG Bombshell has been pushed back slightly to January.

Originally slated for a November release, the game just "isn't entirely bug free at this point," according to the developer.

In a subtle dig at recent industry practices, Interceptor said its first thought "was to just get this puppy out-the-door, and that we could fix the remaining issues with a quick patch after launch. But within ten seconds we realized that's no way to treat paying fans of our games."

Bombshell started out life as Duke Nukem: Mass Destruction, before a lawsuit forced Interceptor to change tack.

The main character, bomb disposal expert Shelly Harrison, was first imagined as Duke's sidekick in the original concept for Duke Nukem Forever.

In the final game, she's "a tough-as-nails mercenary-for-hire touting a powerful bionic arm and a fierce attitude."

Bombshell launches January 29th on Steam and GOG, with new-gen console versions set for "sometime in 2016."
