New footage has emerged of the long-cancelled online shooter Star Wars: First Assault.
The footage (which could get pulled at any time) comes from a technical beta, and does not feature any combat, but does show a stormtrooper's-eye-view of a Tatooine map and several in-game abilities.
According to GamesRadar, First Assault would play similarly to Call of Duty, but feature wave-based respawns, melee-driven healing, and numerous weapons and abilities like repel grenades, cloaks, and holographic decoys.
No Jedi were to be featured in the game, even as killstreak rewards.
The LucasArts-developed game was intended to release in summer 2013, followed by a vehicular combat game codenamed Wingman, and then a proper Battlefront 3 (distinct from EA's imminent Battlefront and Free Radical's cancelled Battlefront 3 from 2006).
First Assault was cancelled when Disney acquired Lucasfilm and its subsidiaries in 2012, along with the Uncharted-esque Star Wars: 1313 and Darth Maul game Battle of the Sith Lords, whose studio hopes to resurrect it.
Under the new Disney regime, Electronic Arts has the rights to the Star Wars license, and has at least two games in the works.
One of the titles is an unannounced game in development at Visceral Studios, led by former Assassin's Creed producer Jade Raymond and former Uncharted creative director Amy Hennig.
The other, online shooter Star Wars: Battlefront, launches November 17th on new-gen consoles and PC.
