Games accounted for approximately 20% of Kickstarter's first $2 billion of crowdfunding, according to recent stats.

The crowdfunding platform reached the $2 billion milestone on October 11th - six years after the site's launch, but only 19 months after the first billion was made.

Though games came in fourth place in terms of number of projects, behind Film/Video, Music, and Publishing, they led the pack in dollars raised.

Up until October 11th, games raised US$412,402,356, in 20,169 projects, from 1.88 million backers.

The most-funded game project is still the card game Exploding Kittens, at $8,782,571, followed closely by the ill-fated OUYA console with $8,596,474.

In video games, the most-funded projects were Shenmue 3, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, and Torment: Tides of Numenera.
