Michel Ancel's Wild is an open-world game with a number of innovations, as revealed in gameplay footage at Sony's Paris Games Week conference today.
In the Rayman developer's new game, players take on the role of a shaman in a pre-technology world, working with and against nature.
Animals - like eagles, snakes, rabbits and more - can be summoned and even possessed to use their abilities for survival or combat.
Some animals, like grizzly bears, can be ridden.
The principal enemies in Wild are other humans, however, which can be fought or avoided with or without the help of animals.
Wild has no release date as of yet.
