Oculus' Rift VR headset will likely cost more than US$350, according to Oculus CEO and founder Palmer Luckey.
The estimate emerged in an interview with Road To VR at the Oculus Connect developer conference.
"You know, I'm going to be perfectly honest with you. We're roughly in that ballpark... but it's going to cost more than that," said Luckey, when asked how the Rift's price would compare to that of the $350 developer kits.
Luckey stressed that the company's priority is to deliver the best VR experience, making "no compromises...in terms of quality."
"I think people are going to be happy with what they get for the price because I really do think it's going to be that best VR headset you can buy."
Worth noting is that Oculus' Touch controllers, required for the Rift's most immersive experiences, will ship separately, the quarter after the headset launches - further increasing the platform's price.
The Oculus Rift is set to launch in Q1 2016, with Sony's PlayStation VR and HTC/Valve's Vive likely hitting around the same time.
