Matchmaking app Overdog is now available for Xbox One in Australia and New Zealand.

Overdog allows players with similar interests to play together by matching profiles not just by the game they want to play, but also the music, movies, TV and other interests they have.

“Before Overdog, if you wanted to play Titanfall with another Walking Dead fan who loves Muse, you had to resort to posting a game request on an internet forum or social media site,” Overdog CEO Steve Berneman writes.

“Now, thanks to Overdog, you can find someone awesome to play with directly from your console without ever putting down your controller.”

Overdog invites existing gaming communities to add their group information to the app so that they can find new members. Information on how to do this can be found at the App’s website.

Overdog launched in the US earlier this year.

This App is not dissimilar to Wellington based start-up Leaping Tiger which allows players to upload their gamertags into a profile with their interests.
