Mass Effect scribe Drew Karpyshyn is back at Bioware after a four-year absence.

Karpyshyn left Bioware to work on his Chaos Borne novels in 2012. With that trilogy complete, he will now be returning to Bioware to work on a familiar title.

“I suspect a lot of folks are going to wonder if this means BioWare is about to announce a new project tied to my return,” he wrote in a blog post.

“The short answer: no. I originally came to the Austin studio many years ago to work on SWTOR [Star Wars: The Old Republic] and – at least for now – that’s what I’m focusing on again.”

Karpyshyn's first project at Bioware was Baldurs Gate II, and he also contributed to Star Wars: The Knights of the Old Republic and the first two Mass Effect titles.

He has published numerous novels within the Star Wars and Mass Effect universes.
