Persona 5 has been delayed until summer 2016 in Japan and America.
Though originally slated for a 2015 release, game director Katsura Hashino revealed today that the game has been delayed to ensure the quality fans expect from the Persona series will be present.
“The strengths of the Persona series are compelling characters, a moving, relatable story, and a borderline obsession with minutiae – elements which can't be rushed or taken lightly,” he said.
“So while Atlus realises the frustration and disappointment that this must cause for the JRPG-loving public, please know that we are delaying the game in order to make sure the next iteration of the Persona series lives up to the expectations of fans.”
A new gameplay trailer was released alongside the announcement, demonstrating many of the new elements this entry is introducing to the series.
Persona 5 is launching on the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4.
