Tatsumi Kimishima is the new president of Nintendo.

Kimishima is currently head of human resources for the company, and will take command at Nintendo from September 16.

He fills the role left open by the death of Satoru Iwata earlier this year. Iwata had been Nintendo president for 13 years before his death in July.

From 2002 to 2006, Kimishima was president of Nintendo of America, the role now held by Reggie "My Body is Ready" Fils-Aime.

He has also been CFO and president of The Pokemon Company, and spent almost 30 years working at the Sanwa Bank in Japan.

It’s not yet clear whether Kimishima will continue with Iwata’s Nintendo Direct or Iwata Speaks broadcasts – two things that endeared the former president to the public.

Famed designer Shigeru Miyamoto and Wii architect Genyo Takeda were both thought to be front runners for the presidency, but are listed as "creative fellow" and "technology fellow" in Nintendo's announcement.

Meanwhile, according to NeoGAF, in a press release Nintendo has outlined the company’s plans to continue its "large scale revision of the organisational structure".

Iwata had already set the ball in motion with regards to a restructure, but according to the release, a second phase will see several of the company’s divisions merge, Miyamoto vacate his position as entertainment analysis and development manager, and more.
