A new vehicular combat game coming to PlayStation 4 is a sequel to one of the PlayStation 2’s first online games.

Hardware: Rivals, a PlayStation 4 exclusive from Sony’s Connected Content Group, is a Twisted Metal-style title that builds on the legacy of 2002 title Hardware: Online Arena.

“We’ve taken the opportunity to introduce a truckload of upgrades and new features, but the spirit of the original gameplay remains the same,” said SCE Connected Content Group’s Daniel Durnin.

“Bringing back the explosive mayhem and online rivalry of vehicle combat has been an absolute pleasure and we can’t wait for you to get behind the wheel.”

Rivals will feature multiple maps and modes, challenges, and special events, as tanks and “Fast Attack Vehicles” battle it out in online arenas.

Player limits and a launch date are yet to be announced.
