Horizon: Zero Dawn's RPG elements will be "in between" Assassin's Creed and The Elder Scrolls, says Guerrilla Games co-founder Hermen Hulst.
Speaking to GamesRadar, Hulst said that while he couldn't give specifics, "on the one side more action-orientated games like Assassin’s Creed, and on the other hand you have your Elder Scrolls and these kinds of series. I think we’re in-between."
Furthermore, he said creating Horizon: Zero Dawn has proven much tougher than the studio's earlier Killzone titles: "specifically the open world nature of this game, but also the artistic and graphical fidelity that we’re after [...] has been a much bigger challenge to the team and to the studio than getting a PlayStation 4 engine ready at launch of PlayStation 4."
Guerrilla hired several former Witcher and Fallout developers for the game to assist with "RPG mechanics and story writing," cited as "more difficult and demanding than for games that are more linear."
Horizon: Zero Dawn is due out sometime in 2016.
