Sony's shipped three million PS4s in the first quarter of 2015, netting the PlayStation division an operating income of US$160m off $2.3b revenue.
That figure eclipses all other consoles combined this quarter, with Microsoft shipping 1.4 million Xbox consoles and Nintendo shipping 470,000 Wii Us.
Perhaps more impressively, 25.3 million PS4 consoles have now been sold in less than two years, outpacing even the mighty PS2, which took two years and eight months to sell 20 million units.
It remains to be seen whether the PS4 will have the legs of its venerable predecessor, however.
Meanwhile, PS3 sales were predictably in decline, and Vita sales weren't even mentioned on Sony's financial report.
It is worth noting that gaming is only a fraction of Sony's business, with other electronics, music and movies, and insurance sales forming the rest of the company's US$794m quarterly operating income.
