A pen-and-paper role playing game of The Witcher is in development, says CD Projekt Red.

Co-developed by CDPR and R.Talsorian Games, the tabletop game will utilise the ruleset from the 1980s RPG Cyberpunk 2020 - which, in a neatly symmetrical twist, is also being turned into a video game by CDPR.

The RPG will allow players to create their own custom character in the same world inhabited by Geralt, and will include all the traditional Witcher elements like swords, signs, monsters, and rituals.

Said the developer, "the system will provide all the necessary tools to create and play out your own adventures and become everything from a battle-hardened monster slayer to a merchant kingpin controlling a vast network of contacts."

The Witcher Role Playing Game is set for release in mid-2016, exclusively on pen and paper.
