Shadowrun Returns developer Harebrained Schemes is once again turning to Kickstarter for funding, this time to reboot beloved mech combat series BattleTech.
BattleTech creator Jordan Weisman is on board, and the resulting game will be a turn-based tactics title for PC – the first in more than 20 years.
According to Harebrained, the game will feature an open-ended Mercenaries-style campaign that blends RPG mech and MechWarrior management with modern turn-based tactics.
The funding drive will launch in the third quarter of this year.
BattleTech debuted as a board game in 1984, and the universe was later expanded with new editions alongside novels, comics, a TV show, a CCG, and several video games including the MechWarrior series.
Harebrained has previously found success on Kickstarter with Shadowrun Returns and Shadowrun: Hong Kong, the latter of which is out next month.
