League of Legends pro Yu “XiaoWeiXiao” Xian has been suspended from the game’s ongoing championship series while Riot investigates allegations he violated the game’s terms of service.
The allegation is that Xian is involved in elo boosting – that is, he’s been levelling up other people’s accounts in exchange for money.
“We have spoken with XiaoWeiXiao regarding ELO boosting allegations,” Riot esports manager Hunter Leigh told the Daily Dot.
“He has confirmed misconduct and is suspended pending investigation.”
On July 14-16, Xian allegedly levelled up a stranger’s League of Legends account for US$1300, and then for payment provided the email address of his manger Alex Gu, of North American pro League team Team Impulse (TiP).
Xian will miss an as-yet undetermined portion of the ongoing North American League of Legends Championship Series (LCS).
