Lords of the Fallen developer Deck13's next game is a sci-fi RPG called The Surge, says publisher Focus Home Interactive.

In its Gamescom preview, Focus says The Surge is "a visceral hardcore RPG with innovative new combat mechanics."

The only media from the game so far is a teaser image of a character wearing some kind of cybernetic exoskeleton.

In his review, Gameplanet's Ben Allan praised Deck13's Lords of the Fallen for its combat and presentation, but bemoaned its lack of originality.

No platforms or release date have been announced, but are likely to emerge at Gamescom, alongside a behind-closed-doors demo, between August 5-9.
