Gears of War Ultimate Edition will bring some later games' mechanics to the original, but not Horde Mode, says The Coalition's Rod Fergusson.
Speaking at San Diego Comic-Con today, the Gears co-creator confirmed that the wildly popular Horde Mode would not make an appearance in the remaster, lest it "creep too much into Gears of War 2 territory".
Part of the reasoning was the comparatively narrow selection of enemies in the ten-year-old original game, which would make Horde Mode feel limited in scope.
Gears of War 3's enemy-spotting feature will, however, make an appearance, alongside other minor additions from later games in the series and an overhauled engine and assets.
Fergusson also announced that the remastered game will be bundled with every Xbox One sold from its release date until the end of the year.
Gears of War Ultimate Edition launches on Xbox One on August 25, and on PC at an unspecified date.
