Valve's former economist Yanis Varoufakis has left his post as Greek finance minister amidst continued financial worries.
Hours after Greece voted to reject further economic austerity measures, it seems Varoufakis was quietly shown the door by a government more fond of its creditors than he was.
"I was made aware of a certain preference by some Eurogroup participants, and assorted 'partners', for my..."absence" from its meetings; an idea that the Prime Minister judged to be potentially helpful," he wrote in a blog post. "For this reason I am leaving the Ministry of Finance today."
Varoufakis joined Greece's government last year to attempt to reverse the country's economic troubles, taking a critical stance of the country's creditors.
"I shall wear the creditors' loathing with pride," he concluded.
At Valve, Varoufakis nearly three years managing Valve's online economies around the likes of Team Fortress 2 and Dota 2.
The move comes as Greek banks near total collapse, with the country on the verge of pulling out from the Euro.
