Sony's PlayStation 4 commands between 70 and 90 percent of console market share in continental Europe, says SCE Europe president Jim Ryan.
"We have market leadership in every country in Europe, and have very significant market leadership in continental Europe. Extremely significant. I don’t think market-share’s any less than 70 percent, and frequently greater than 90 percent in continental Europe," Ryan said.
Ryan's gloat comes after Microsoft's Phil Spencer admitted to EDGE Magazine, "We need to do better in Europe. When I look globally, mainland Europe is definitely an area we want to focus on.”
Historically, European game consumers have preferred Sony's consoles, while English-speaking countries have tended more towards Microsoft's various Xbox offerings.
Microsoft has an opportunity to make up lost ground at Cologne's Gamescom conference in August, where Sony is not making an appearance.
The PlayStation 4 has sold 22.3 million units worldwide to date.
