Star Citizen's first-person shooter module, Star Marine, has been delayed for the foreseeable future.

"When will we see Star Marine? Tonight, I don’t have an absolute answer for you," said game director and Wing Commander creator Chris Roberts.

Star Marine was originally slated for an April 2015 release, but has slipped behind due to development issues.

Roberts went into remarkable detail in a lengthy blog entry, outlining the various technical and creative reasons for the delay.

The developer stressed that the delay does not affect development on other parts of the game, which is being released in a modular fashion.

The most heavily crowdfunded game in history, Star CItizen's ambition has grown with each funding milestone, adding robust trade, exploration, and narrative features - as well as FPS gameplay - to what was originally a comparatively simple (though still complex) throwback space shooter.
