Valve's initial batch of "get it early" Steam hardware orders has sold out, according to the software giant.

Any future orders of Steam Link or Steam Controller hardware will now be shipped on November 10, rather than the earlybird date of October 16; the same goes for Alienware's Steam Machines.

All eyes are on Valve as it moves towards its release of Steam hardware, to see if it can compete in the hardware business as successfully as it has in software and retail.

It is unclear whether low supply or high demand are to blame for the sellout, but regardless, those who waited to order will have to wait a little longer to receive their machines.
