Dean Hall, Kiwi creator of DayZ, is working on two new games.
Ion, announced at Microsoft's E3 2015 presentation this week, is the first: an ambitious space-based narrative MMO game.
"It’s not Star Citizen, it’s not Elite, it’s not Eve," Hall said at the PC Gaming Show yesterday.
Though no gameplay has been seen, Hall said the game is "a simulation MMO that explores mankind's expansion into space," and will see players building space stations and exploring from a third-person, semi-isometric perspective.
Meanwhile, Hall's New Zealand-based studio RocketWerkz is working on another, even more mysterious (and officially unannounced) game for Valve's SteamVR platform.
Although Ion is destined for Early Access, Hall was cagey of revealing too much information or footage from either game until his teams can "deliver".
Hall cited the lessons he learned about the early access model through the development of DayZ as the reason for the radio silence.
Ion is coming "first" to PC and Xbox One, though no release date has been announced.
