EA and BioWare have officiall unveiled Mass Effect: Andromeda and a holiday 2016 release date.

Taking a step away from the saga of Commander Shepard, Andromeda takes place in the galaxy from which the game takes its title.

The reveal would appear to lend credence to details leaked via a survey on Reddit earlier this year.

That report included mentions of the Andromeda galaxy, a revamped Mako land vehicle, and (oddly) a photography mechanic, all of which appear in EA's announcement trailer.

Once again, players will take control of a male or female human character; however, not the one featured in the trailer, according to BioWare's blog. Curious.
