British daily newspaper The Guardian has it “on very good authority” that vapourware candidate The Last Guardian will be shown at this year’s E3.
The paper included the game in a “Most Anticipated of E3 2015” article with the following explanation:
Yes, we know it has been in development hell since 2007, but we have it on very good authority that this will be the year that Team Ico finally presents its follow-up to much loved classics Ico and Shadow of the Colossus. Whether it’ll bear any relation to the game last shown at E3 in 2009 is anyone’s guess.
It’s worth noting that The Guardian also has the upcoming Wii U Legend of Zelda game on its list as well – a game Nintendo has already said won’t be at the show.
The Last Guardian was announced at E3 in 2009, but little has been seen of it since.
In 2011 lead designer Fumito Ueda left Team Ico, but is apparently still working on the game as a contractor.
The last we heard, the game’s team was "well-staffed", with Sony claiming development on the title never ceased.
