Celebrated writer and designer Chris Avellone has left Obsidian Entertainment.
Avellone co-founded Obsidian with his Black Isle Studios colleagues Feargus Urquhart, Darren Monahan, Chris Parker, and Chris Jones.
Avellone gave no explanation for his departure, but he did tell Eurogamer he was “off to pursue new projects”.
“I can't say anything more at this time beyond life is short, and the ideas keep growing,” he added.
Avellone was creative director at Obsidian, and was a key part of Knights of the Old Republic 2, Fallout: New Vegas, and Pillars of Eternity.
Prior to his time there, he directed revered RPG Planescape: Torment, and had a hand in the Icewind Dale and Baldur’s Gate series’s.
I have officially left Obsidian Entertainment to accept a sudden opening as the Defence Against the Dark Arts Professor at Hogwarts.

(The first part is serious, but much love and well wishes to my fellow devs, good folks one and all.)
