Australians could soon be paying 10 percent more for digital games purchased through outlets such as Steam.
As reported by the Sydney Morning Herald, the federal government is hoping to introduce a goods and services tax on services such as Netflix, as well as other ‘imported’ digital goods.
The tax already applies to goods whose value exceeds AU$1000, but the government is looking to reduce that threshold.
The change will not affect the price of iTunes downloads, as Apple already pays GST on every sale in Australia including downloads.
