You may recall that late last month Gameplanet teamed up with PlayStation NZ and challenged you to share your deepest fears with us. We wanted one of you to face your fear and win a PlayStation 4, and a copy of Bloodborne for yourself and a friend.
There were plenty of entries for fears that many of us share. They ranged from dangerous creatures - sharks and spiders were unsurprisingly common - to what I guess you'd call environmental fears, things like heights and confined spaces.
But the fear that really caught our attention belonged to Preacher41:
I'm 29 years old, I'm a big bloke I've been a security officer for 10 years, got tattoos, love hunting and just spent 3 weeks in Siberia. But: I'm scared of bloody horses. Can't go near them. When I was 18 I was walking down the road with my mate and a horse was coming the other way. I ended up hiding under a bridge until it was gone.
I saw a jockey get trampled on the hurdles at Trentham Race Course when I was 4 or 5 and have never been able to pass the fear of them.
Why I think I should win: because I would just love to win the prize and enjoy the new PS4 and Bloodborne, I've been trying to pick between a Xbox one and a PS4, also its about time I got over the fear of horses. Come on, little girls in pink dresses love riding horses I should at least be able to share a field with one.
A fear of horses is called hippophobia (thanks Google), and the idea that a bloke who goes on Siberian hunting expeditions might wither in terror at the sight of Li'l Sebastian sounded too good for us to pass over. I can assure you that when we set out to run this competition, we never imagined it would result in a gentle horse trek along Muriwai beach.
Thanks to everyone who entered, and congratulations to Preacher41 for facing his fear and for being a good sport!
