Time Magazine has named Feminist critic Anita Sarkeesian and YouTuber Felix "PewDiePie" Arvid Ulf Kjellberg among the most influential people on the Internet.

Sarkeesian and PewDiePie join world leaders such as Barack Obama and pop culture icons such as Taylor Swift.

The list was initially published in Time's print edition earlier this month.

PewDiePie was also honoured in Forbes Magazine's 30 under 30 list earlier this year.

Sarkeesian is the creator of Feminist Frequency, a video webseries that explores the representations of women in pop culture narratives. She is most widely recognised for her Tropes vs. Women in Video Games video series, which examines and deconstructs stereotypes and tropes associated with women in the online and gaming spaces.

For her work, Sarkeesian has been subjected widespread anonymous harassment, including anonymous death threats. However, the attention drawn to Sarkeesian by her detractors appears only to have stimulated donations to her non-profit organisation, Feminist Frequency.

Last year, expenditures at Feminist Frequency totaled US$64,200. The proposed budget for 2015 is approximately six times that, US$400,000. Donations in the final quarter of last year, after Sarkeesian was driven from her home by anonymous death threats, totaled US$397,778.
