Ubisoft is planning a closed beta for Rainbow Six: Siege later this year.

The beta will come to PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Pre-ordering Rainbow Six: Siege guarantees access.

The previously unannounced beta was revealed by an in-store promotion.

“Yes, you can now pre-order Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege to get access to the Closed Beta later on this year," said an Ubisoft representative subsequently. "Stay tuned for more information on the Closed Beta in the coming months."

Rainbow Six: Siege is a five-on-five multiplayer game in which a team of terrorists must fortify a defensible position against breach by the Rainbow Six operative team. Matches are usually limited to 3 minutes, and there are no respawns.

The game is in development at Ubisoft Montreal. The game uses the studio's Realblast engine, which allows for procedural destruction meaning the environment reacts dynamically based player interactions.
