According to the Wall Street Journal, a live-action television take on The Legend of Zelda is being put together at at Netflix.
The WSJ’s source said the show is about an ordinary boy named Link who must rescue a princess named Zelda and save a fantasy world called Hyrule. Netflix is apparently describing it as Game of Thrones for a family audience.
The video streaming service is apparently in the early stages of developing the show.
Nintendo is said to be working closely with Netflix to make the show a reality, and the companies are currently seeking writers.
When contacted by the WSJ, a Nintendo spokesman said the company “doesn’t comment on rumors and speculation”.
An animated Legend of Zelda series ran for one season back in 1989.
