PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will both get hardware revisions later this year that will make them 4K capable.
That's according to a rumour from an unlikely albeit credible source. Speaking at a CES 2015 press conference, Netflix chief product officer Neil Hunt said that Sony had "promised" to launch a 4K-capable version of the PlayStation 4.
Netflix quickly disavowed the comment saying it can't speak for Sony's future plans. A representative told Forbes Hunt believes that when both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 undergo their usual two-year hardware refresh they will add 4K video playback capability.
In the wake of Netflix's comments, Microsoft confirmed that it is considering 4K for Xbox One.
