A total of 45 games were produced by New Zealand teams during this year's Global Game Jam.
The 48-hour Global Game Jam takes place simultaneously around the world and is organised globally by the International Game Developers Association (IGDA).
A total of 102 entrants took part in the jam at Auckland's Media Design School, and between them produced 27 games. Another 52 participated at Waikato University, turning out 18 games in total.
Participants had 48 hours to create a game around this year’s theme, which was “What do we do now?”.
Prizes up for grabs at Media Design School (MDS) included a PlayStation 4 donated by Sony.
“The Global Game Jam provided us with a safe environment to make new friends, experiment freely and discover what we're capable of,” said Jackson Wong, a second year MDS student.
“In such an easygoing atmosphere, everyone was more than happy to put their heads together, share tips and teach each other a thing or two.”
You can download and play the games created at MDS here, and those created at Waikato here.
