A nationwide product recall has been issued for Saints Row 4: Re-Elected on PlayStation 4 in Australia.

According to a statement issued to press, the version of the game sold in Australia over the weekend was incorrectly classified.

"Unfortunately over the weekend, it has come to light that the PlayStation 4 retail release of Saints Row 4: Re-Elected has a serious manufacturing issue and a nationwide recall is now underway in Australia," reads the statement.

"A manufacturing issue has caused an incorrectly classified version of Saints Row 4: Re-Elected for our territory to be released. This strictly affects PlayStation 4 retail versions.

"All customers who have purchased the PlayStation 4 version of Saints Row 4: Re-Elected are encouraged to return to their retailer for a full refund.

"Replacement copies with the correct content are on order and will arrive with retailers soon."

Saints Row 4 was originally refused classification in Australia due to the appearance of an anal probe weapon and “alien narcotics” in the game.

An edited version of the game finally received an MA15+ rating.

New Zealand is not affected by the recall.
