Police have arrested and 18 year-old man in Southport, England, in relation to the attacks on the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live on Christmas Day.
The man was arrested under the computer misuse act in a joint-operation between the UK's South East Regional Organised Crime Unit (SEROCU) and the FBI.
Hacker group Lizard Squad claimed responsibility for attacks that took PlayStation Network and Xbox Live offline on Christmas Day. Six weeks ago, the group warned it would take both services down over Christmas.
"Microsoft and Sony are f***ing retarded, literally monkeys behind computers," one of the members of Lizard Squad told The Daily Dot.
In addition to DDoS attacks, the arrest was related to SWATing, the act of calling in a hoax emergency in order to elicit an armed police response at the desired address.
