A quartet of former DICE and Spark Unlimited developers have joined forces and are looking to partially-crowdfund an open world space survival title called Into the Stars.
California-based Fugitive Games consists of four industry veterans whose portfolios include Battlefield 4, Medal of Honor: Warfighter, Lost Planet 3, Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon, and Shadows of the Damned.
Notably, composer Jack Wall (Mass Effect, Call of Duty: Black Ops II) is also on board to handle the game’s score.
Into the Stars will feature crew permadeath, open world exploration in a massive solar system, resource management, combat, and the looming threat of a pursuing alien force.
It's being pitched as "Oregon Trail meets FTL in an open world".
The game is being developed using Unreal Engine 4, and will launch for Windows PC and Mac in around July this year.
Fugitive is seeking US$85,000 to finish the project, and at the time of writing has raised US$6,751 with 29 days of crowdfunding to go.
