New clues have reignited old rumours that Rockstar's open world Western, Red Dead Redemption, may still be coming to PC.

A listing for Red Dead Redemption has been found by a NeoGAF user in a database maintained by Microsoft to help determine compatibility with its operating systems Windows 7, 8 and 8.1.

The FAQ notes that a game can only be listed on the database if it has been submitted by a developer or by Microsoft Testing. Qualifying submissions, like the one for Red Dead Redemption, are published.

In July last year, Rockstar was hiring a programmer who could help to bring the developer's games to PC.

Official word from both Rockstar and parent Take-Two Interactive is that there are no plans to bring Red Dead Redemption to PC.

Whether or not Red Dead Redemption makes it to PC, Take-Two Interactive has been vocal about its ambition to turn the game into a franchise.

In an investor’s call last year, Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two Interactive, listed Red Dead Redemption among the franchises his company considered to be “permanent”.
