To celebrate the two year anniversary of The Binding of Isaac’s release, the creators of Indie Game: The Movie have released an extended interview with its co-creator Ed McMillen.

The 30-minute interview covers the creation of The Binding of Isaac, and is the game is part of Indie Game: The Movie’s Special Edition.

In the video, McMillen explains that Isaac was initially just going to be a week-long project to keep him occupied while his Super Meat Boy co-designer Tommy Refenes went on holiday.

"I didn't really have any idea of what I wanted to do, but I definitely wanted to do something risky," said McMillen.

"I wanted to do something exciting, because I wanted something to replace that danger of running out of money, and the danger was, maybe I was going to do something that could hurt my career in some way."

The Binding of Isaac has sold two million copies so far, and an upscaled remake for PC, consoles, and possibly mobile is currently underway.
