Ticketmaster has agreed to waive a handling fee for tickets to the Digital Nationz expo, event organisers have announced.
The ticketing agent normally charges a fee of $8 for online ticket sales, which is added to the ticket price. With a one-day earlybird ticket to the expo costing $14, the handling fee previously represented an extra charge of more than 50%.
“Digital Nationz is grateful that Ticketmaster is getting behind the first year of this brand new event by waiving their customary handling fee of $8,” said event manager Peter Hall. “We really appreciate their support of our goal of keeping ticket prices low and making the event accessible to as many people as possible.”
A Vector Arena land levy fee of $1.75 still applies, as well as a surcharge for credit card payments.
Anyone who has already purchased a ticket to the expo can apply to Ticketmaster for a refund of the handling fee by emailing [email protected].
Digital Nationz will mark the first time Kiwi gamers will get their hands on next-gen consoles PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. A League of Legends tournament has already been confirmed for the event.
Digital Nationz takes place over the 28th and 29th of September at Vector Arena in Auckland.
Tickets are at earlybird prices until the end of August. Weekend VIP and 1-Day Saturday VIP passes have sold out, but a limited number of 1-Day Sunday VIP passes are still available.
